Spiritual Authority vs Spiritual Intimidation

Authority is defined as, power, charge, influence

Intimidation is defined as domineering, pressurizing, controlling

Love/Fear Factor

Spiritual authority walks in love, rebukes and corrects in love with the aim to build and teach someone from their mistakes or shortcomings. while spiritual intimidation instills fear, restlessness and harsh rebuke. 

Confidence/Worry Factor

Spiritual authority builds confidence  and boldness. Encourages growth and maturity while spiritual intimidation creates worry and anxiety, hinders growth and maturity while boldness and confidence is seen as insubordination or rebellion.

Spiritual Depth/ Spiritual Hype Factor

Spiritual Authority fuels spiritual depth in the word and in prayer thus building strong spiritual muscles and spiritual growth.Spiritual intimidation encourages a spiritual high without recollection and retaining of the word. They operate on a high that fades with time verses

Liberty/Oppression Factor

Spiritual authority allows freedom and liberty while intimidation dwells on oppression, and subjection

Knowledge/Ignorance Factor

Spiritual authority seeks to instill  knowledge, wisdom and understanding. They focus on  teaching and training and building a personal relationship with God while spiritual intimidation does not emphasize on knowledge thus people walk in ignorance and no Biblical knowledge of their own or desire to grow in knowledge. They are highly dependant on the authority for spiritual nourishment, and prayer with no personal spiritual relationship with God.

Safety/Vulnerability Factor

Spiritual authority builds a hedge of safety where your life and all that concerns you is safe and will not be a topic for discussion or the pulpit. Spiritual intimidation is based on exposure to the point of embarrassment and shame

Personal Identity/ Leaders Identity Factor

Spiritual authority nurtures gifts, anointing, talent and personal identity. Spiritual intimidation one takes after the leaders identity, forgetting oneself. Gifts and talents are not encouraged as they seem a threat or competition to the spiritual authority

Admires Leader/ Idolizes Leader Factor

Spiritual authority has an admiration and respect for the leader. They see the leader as a role model, one you can emulate. Spiritual intimidation elevates the spiritual authority to a level of hero worship. A person looks down on themselves and sees the authority almost like a divine being

Repents of sin/ Justifies sin Factor

Spiritual authority sin is acknowledged and repentance sought. One takes ownership of their sin and turn to God for forgiveness. Spiritual intimidation sin is covered and/or justified. One does not take ownership of their sin but blame is shifted to another.
